TIBOR SÓSKÚTI (1960 - )
Zoltán
1983
oil on canvas
100x80 cm
In 1983 Sóskuti began to produce a series of xerox paintings (with the help of Zoltán Gazsi) using a photocopier, which was an unusually fresh technology at the time. He coloured and decorated the photocopied photographs with a highly contrasting, "artistic" effect using felt-tip pens and air brushes, which were also a new drawing tool at the time. In the following years, he projected the characters from this series of A4 sheets onto large canvases. The series of 'burnt-in' photographs and contrasting black and white portraits on xerox cards grew into a series of paintings.
